4×4 Tyres Fitted for All Terrain, 4x4s and SUVs

4×4 tyres are designed specifically for vehicles that are intended for more challenging road and terrain surfaces. They are available in a number of different types and sizes ready for use on SUVs (Sports Utility Vehicles) and all-terrain vehicles.

JB Rubber Corby stocks and has access to a wide range of 4×4 tyres suitable for SUVs, both for on-road and off-road use from some of the most well-known tyre brands.

Which 4×4 tyres should I have fitted?

Choose the type of 4×4 tyre depending on intended use:

All terrain tyres: If you don’t want to change your tyres between conventional road usage and your recreational activities, we recommend you have all terrain tyres fitted. These will deal with your muddy terrain, off road situations whilst giving you less excessive wear and tear and fuel consumption when on regular tarmac.

Off road tyres: these provide the best grip and handling on extreme terrains and are not designed for normal road usage. When used on normal tarmac the tyres will wear faster and increase your fuel consumption. When used on extreme terrain and steep inclines, off road tyres can tackle most surfaces making them also ideal for agricultural vehicles.

On road tyres: If your vehicle is just being used for normal road usage then 4×4 on road tyres will give you the best performance. They are larger, with a larger tread pattern but will give you a smoother ride with better fuel efficiency.

The benefits of have 4×4 tyres fitted

4×4 tyres are designed for 4×4 vehicles which have two differentials, meaning power from the engine is distributed to all four wheels rather than just two on a front or rear wheel drive vehicle. To avoid grip issues and rapid wear (which you can get when you mix normal two-wheel drive tyres with four-wheel) it is important to have 4×4 tyres fitted.

4×4 tyres give you excellent traction in extreme conditions.  They are designed for off-road use and are used on difficult and hilly terrains where normal tyres can get stuck. They will also give you better grip in adverse weather conditions like snow and ice.

4×4 tyres typically feature a higher load construction with a rigid sidewall meaning they will handle heavy loads safely – ideal for transporting bulky goods or lots of kids in an SUV!

How do 4×4 tyres work?

The tread pattern on 4×4 tyres is more widely spaced than normal car tyres. To allow tyres to get a better grip on rough terrain or snow by not getting clogged, they are constructed with a larger tread block and deeper tyre grooves.
